How to Lock WhatsApp with Fingerprint on Android and iOS

WhatsApp recently announced that fingerprint lock for Android users is now available, adding another layer of security for users. All chats and notifications can be locked by using the same fingerprint that is used for the screen lock, and even the time duration of the unlock can be customized. It comes with lock options.

With this new feature, It’s another level of security, to ensure the user is the the only person who can access the WhatsApp app on their mobile device.

How to enable Fingerprint Lock

Before commencing to set your fingerprint lock, you need to be on the latest version of WhatsApp. For Android, the current latest build number is 2.19.308 on the PlayStore.

You’ll see options to let the app stay unlocked for one or 30 minutes after you unlock it. There’s also an option that stops the contents of your messages from appearing in notifications.

  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Account.
  4. Tap Privacy.
  5. Go to Fingerprint Lock.
  6. Switch on Unlock with fingerprint, and then confirm your fingerprint.

WhatsApp fingerprint (face iD) lock for iOS

  1. Open WhatsApp.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Account.
  4. Tap Privacy.
  5. Go to Screen Lock.
  6. Turn on Touch ID or Face ID.
  7. You can then tap to select the amount of time before Touch ID or Face ID is prompted.

In conclusion, the Fingerprint lock for Whatsapp is to add an extra layer of security to Whatsapp users and offer more privacy. The fingerprint feature works well for phones with physical fingerprint scanners as well as in-display scanners.
